Where do I even start with Little Harvest Caye! Little Harvest was the very first island we at Gecko Vacations constructed. It was done with the same family-oriented vision as our prior villas. In Belize, you will see islands with small huts you can rent for a night or two. These basic accommodations with no a/c or quality bedding look so cute painted in bright colors and set on screensaver-perfect islands.
Our vision for Little Harvest was to mimic this look and feel, but elevated. One of my favorite compliments was from two council women from the local village council who said we nailed “Belize elevated” during our grand opening. The island is home to 5 beautiful individual 1 room suites, each slightly different in size and shape, each with their own bathrooms, outdoor showers, and patios with amazing ocean views.
Our Dolphin suite is specialized to accompany parents traveling with young kids with its King size bed and dual child beds, contrarily our Jaguar suite hosts 2 queen beds perfect for arguing brothers who would try to strangle each other if sharing a bed, like my boys! In other words, the suites are perfect for larger families, traveling couples groups, and everything in between!
However, what really has made the property so cherished and beloved to me, are the lasting memories with my family and friends in the common area. Little Harvest has a large thatch-covered wooden-decked lounge area, home to the island’s kitchen, pool, entertainment area, and more. The private individual suites of the island are brought together by this area where everyone can come together to relax and play in between enjoying the world-class meals the onsite chef prepares, and drinks! I remember my last stay at Little Harvest; my boys and friends were playing volleyball in the pool, while the moms enjoyed fresh Caribbean-style cocktails and played cards under the thatch roof’s shade enjoying the breeze. While we relaxed and the kids played, the dads of the group had their own fun playing cornhole on the beach just in front of us drinking ice-cold Belizean Belikin Beer. A perfect combination of everyone simultaneously and uniquely vacationing to their desires, a contradiction that seemed too good to be true at the time!
Furthermore, I would be remiss to not talk about the unbelievable location of Little Harvest and the opportunities it provided. To use my last stay at the island as an example once more, I remember we went on excursions and tours not only in the sea but to the mainland, and even the jungle. The mainland is easily accessible by a short 7-minute boat ride from one of the lovely staff members. This allowed us to take our boys zip lining, waterfall rappelling, and cave tubing on the Belizean mainland despite literally being on a private island. The perfect balance of satisfying the quiet relaxation myself and fellow parents need whilst still entertaining young boys both on and off the island.
In summary, I love Little Harvest Caye for its personalized private suites, balance of fun location and amenities, and finally to the unmatched staff who accommodated our every possible need while we sat back and enjoyed paradise!
